Thora: a different perspective on a well known Orcadian story

A moving dialogue between Thora and the spirit of her murdered son, St Magnus, killed by his cousin in 12th century Viking Orkney.  Thora reflects on love amidst violence, patriarchy and women's power, ageing, grief and forgiveness.  It was premiered in Orkney in June 2023 as part of the St Magnus International Festival.  Acclaimed by audiences and critics, powerfully directed by Gerda Stevenson, Thora brims with defiant hope.  For a delightfully positive take on the play, read Joyce Macmillan's review of Thora.
