Reared in Cumbernauld, refined in Milngavie and reformed in South Queensferry, he now resides in Orkney, bringing a haunting sense of dislocation to songs that know their place. A guitar of rosewood and spruce gives a punch to both fingerstyle and percussive strumming that offset his achingly beautiful melodies. STAGES at Eden Court
The final concert at Eden Court on 28th October was tremendous. Twelve singer songwriters all supporting one another to play at the peak of their powers and an audience appreciating it all the way. I had the honour of closing out the night with a song everyone could join in on. Here's me teaching the complicated words to the audience:

Here's a song we love to play live. This version is from the much missed Reel in Kirkwall.
Its a song that is about being helicoptered to hospital for an emergency operation after a skiing accident - not a universal experience.
But really its about realising that you love someone when you think you're not going to make it.
